Yan Jianqunis a professor of physiology and neurobiology at the Xi’an Jiaotong University College of Medicine.He finished his medical
training at Xi’an Medical College in 1976. He received his master’s degree in physiology in 1982, and a doctorate in physiology in 1987 from Xi’an Medical University. Dr. Yan received his post-doctoral training at University of Lund, Sweden during the period of 1990-1992, and worked as a senior post-doc or a research associate in the neuroscience program and department of psychology at University of Delaware, the United States from 1992 to 1996. He served as a lecturer in physiology at Xi’an Medical University for 3 years before he went to Sweden, and rejoined Xi’an Medical University as a full professor of physiology and neurobiology in May, 1996. He served as the Chair of the department of physiology from Nov. 1996 to April 1999.
In recent years, Dr. Yan has authored about 100 publications and several monographs and textbooks. His research has concentrated on higher medical education management, with a special emphasis on comparison of medical education between China and developed countries,and on mechanisms of interaction of taste with ingestion. Currently, Dr. Yan is vice-principal of Xi’an Jiaotong University, editor-in-chief of the J. Xi’an Jiaotong Univ.(Medical Science Edition) , the leader of the 65 members Editorial Committee of Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University (Medical Sciences), and serves as the member of several scientific journals like J. Physiological Sci., Frontier of Med. Etc.
